Now, y’all, do you remember several years ago when Black Lives Matter came out and everybody was saying “Black Lives Matter”? And then some people would say “All Lives Matter”? Do you remember the controversy that kicked up with the “All Lives Matter” response? I don’t know if it was a movement, but it was definitely a retort to the Black Lives Matter movement.
It was a huge controversy. Do you remember that? Well, I’m going to tie that in today to what’s happening with your boy, the illustrious sub-10% approval rating mayor of Chicago, Brandon “Brandy Boy” Johnson.

I’m going to show you what the “All Lives Matter” retort has to do with him today, y’all. His city hall, his administration, is kind of undergoing a complete meltdown right now. People are getting fired. People are coming out making all kinds of allegations of a hostile work environment and bullying. People are quitting, y’all. It’s a complete SHI Young Teasy show.
And we’re going to bring you all of the details here today. We’re going to show you what the “All Lives Matter” retort has to do with all of this. It’s going to be quite entertaining. So make sure you watch until the end. Without further ado, y’all, let’s go ahead and get into it.
“Well, some Chicago city council members say they are concerned about a pattern of bullying behavior right in the mayor’s office. This after Fox Chicago reported on those exclusive emails last night from a former top city official who alleged the mayor’s team was harassing and smearing her before she left. Political reporter Paris Schutz here with the latest now.”
“Yeah, Don and Tia, the mayor today announced some new hires and new appointments in his office and across some city agencies, but some alders are saying they’re cautious. They’re not ready to just rubber-stamp these appointments just yet. This is after our exclusive report last night showing an email from former city human relations commissioner Nancy Andrade dated March 12th. This is two weeks before she resigned. In this email, she alleges the mayor’s office, including her chief of staff, fought her on a report that she was putting out to fight antisemitism across the city. Andrade alleges the mayor’s chief of staff and chief equity officer wanted to dilute this report and take out references to Jewish lives and make it about, quote, all lives.”
And then, all right, so there you go. Did you catch it? Did you catch it? There was a report particularly about antisemitism that Andrade was compiling and wanted to, I suppose, submit or publish. And according to her, or according to this report, people in the Johnson administration said, “Well, why are you focusing just on them? All lives. You need to look at all kinds of discrimination.” And Andrade is like, “Well, my report is about this particular type of discrimination.” And they’re like, “Hey, all lives matter.” Ain’t that funny?
“And then she said they attempted a quid pro quo. In essence, go along with our program or fear for your job. And we uncovered a lengthy email she sent to the mayor’s team to, quote, set the record straight, and she lodged several accusations alleging their conduct with her was, quote, egregious, shameful, disturbing, hostile, bullying, utterly unethical and unprofessional. The hostile workplace allegations are allegations I should be making against yourselves, Andrade says to Pozion Zayas and chief equity officer Carla Kupe.”
So this allegation is that Andrade came up with a report after she noticed antisemitism on the rise. She wants to do a report on that in particular. The people in the Johnson administration are like, “Well, why are you focusing on them? Let’s focus on all kinds of discrimination.” And she’s like, “Well, yeah, but that’s not what this report’s about.” And they’re like, “Well, you need to switch up your report if you want to keep working here, y’all.” Am I understanding this correctly?
Now, several alders reacted today, including 32nd Ward Alderman Scott Waguespack, who says he finds this treatment, quote, appalling and worries that this has become a disturbing pattern.
“The pattern that we’re seeing here is actually one that’s very disturbing. It’s saying anybody who challenges us, who calls out corruption, who calls out harassment or any forms of governing that are unethical, they’re immediately shown the door. They’re forced out. And to the credit of many of the commissioners or staff that have been here, they left voluntarily so that they didn’t get caught up in these other actions that the administration was going to take. It really smacks of some of the things we’re seeing in D.C. right now. And I just find it appalling compared to what I’ve seen over many decades of governing.”
So there’s one alderman who just reacted to this, I would say, complete meltdown within the Johnson administration. I mean, is anybody surprised, y’all? If you are an illustrious sub-10% approval rating mayor and you’re Brandy Boy Johnson, would you expect anything different? And we have other alders who are also reacting forcefully to the controversy.
“You know, a lot going on here, Alderman, in terms of these allegations coming from Andrade about quid pro quo and hostile behavior from the mayor’s office. What is your reaction to this?”
“You know what we’ve learned, too, is we’re getting a glimpse of a very harsh work environment within city hall. And as the mayor just announced today, seven new hires, this is what people are walking into. This is what our departments are operating under when they are asked to perform the duties of administering government here in the city of Chicago. And all of us should be very concerned about the environment that we are not only creating but leaving for the next generation of Chicagoans. We have a responsibility to deliver service in an impartial, fair, and astounding manner, and clearly the Johnson administration is missing that mark.”
“What do you think that the Johnson administration can do at this point to really rectify and regain the trust of the local Jewish community?”
“Well, I think for starters, what we saw, and particularly what Commissioner Andrade was referring to, is that there’s a report that highlights a 58% increase specifically in hate crimes against the Jewish community. Jewish hatred is up 58%, and Mayor Johnson’s team, particularly his chief of staff and the chief equity officer, said, ‘We’re not going to mention that. We’re going to remove nearly 30 mentions of the word Jewish or Jewish references from a report. We’re going to whitewash it, and we’re going to say that people who’ve only been impacted by one or two incidences are going to matter just as much as someone who’s being specifically targeted here in the city of Chicago.’ That’s not how you work together. That’s not how you address any kind of problem in the city of Chicago, let alone one so dangerous as this. And I don’t necessarily know if he has the ability or wherewithal or desire, for that matter, to build that relationship. He’s speaking to a very different audience right now, and that is very detrimental to the fabric of Chicago.”
Now, y’all, don’t forget that this is just the most recent, and probably the most explosive, departure among many departures in the Brandy Boy Johnson administration over the past several weeks. But they’re all saying the same thing. They’re all saying that there’s a hostile work environment, that there’s bullying, that there’s a lack of accountability, and that whenever you do try to hold someone else accountable, there’s a problem within the Brandy Boy Johnson administration. So it looks like this is a pattern at this point.
“And remember that Andrade’s resignation came just days after the firing of deputy mayor for public safety Garien Gatewood and his top deputy Manny Whitfield, who alleged similar things against the mayor’s chief of staff, saying they felt they had a target on their back for ever pushing back on anything. This is what Waguespack is expressing concern about. Interestingly, today Mayor Johnson announced a replacement for the deputy mayor for public safety. His name is Emanuel Andre. He’s been a longtime lawyer in the public defender’s office, and by all accounts he is more on board with the mayor’s approach of restorative justice and alternative approaches to policing in terms of boosting public safety.”
“I want to go back to something you said about the new hires, that some older people feel like they’re not just going to give it the rubber stamp. Any idea of what they plan to do about it? Can they do anything?”
“So the mayor also appointed a new head of the Chicago Department of Transportation, a huge agency obviously, and what Waguespack was saying is, well, maybe we need to think twice because that person is going to have to be confirmed by city council. Maybe we need to think twice. Maybe we need to really drill down on the mayor and this appointee on what has been promised, what are the terms of this here. So we’ll see. But what Waguespack said is there are more and more colleagues expressing a desire to exert themselves over these high-profile departures and firings and these allegations that keep coming out. Now, we should mention the mayor’s office, in a statement to us last night, categorically denied quid pro quo, denied hostile work environment, and denied these allegations that Miss Andrade had been making.”
“All right.”
So yeah, y’all. It looks like Brandy Boy Johnson is ruling his administration like a tyrant, like a dictator, like a desperate despot. Oh man, y’all. So what do y’all think? There are people who speculate as to whether or not he’s going to run for reelection, and in fact one of the alders said that he may even be able to win reelection because he appeals to a certain group of people. I don’t know who those people are. But as of now, he has not made any indication about whether he’s thinking about running for reelection or not.
So this is all, I mean, I just find this comical, interesting. It’s sometimes even hilarious, y’all. But if I were in Chicago, I probably wouldn’t be laughing, because y’all have to live with this guy. So y’all tell me, I guess the question for today is going to be: do you think he gets it together? And do you think he can reshape his administration and put on maybe a clean face before it’s time for the elections? Or do you think, no, this is just going to continue to happen? We’re going to see more public disputes, more public people leaving the administration, whether it’s through firing or resignation, and now this is just going to be a complete SHI Young Teasy show, a meltdown.
